About the Reading Toolkit

Tutoring lessons offered by The Reading Toolkit address weaknesses in phonemic awareness, sight word recognition, contextual fluency, and comprehension. Symptoms of dyslexia can also be remediated, with or without a formal dyslexia diagnosis. Techniques and strategies acquired in formal training, classroom experience, and ten years of one-on-one tutoring are employed to treat the struggling reader. These young readers often find spelling to be a challenge as well, as the rules that allow decoding also govern encoding. Learning in one area provides feedback for the other, thus reading and spelling can progress together.
